The Grand Duke was named as the new Honorary Chair during the annual meeting of the World Scout Foundation Board and the 78th Baden-Powell Fellowship Event in Stockholm that took place from 7 to 9 May.

On 9 May, the King and Grand Duke participated in Scouts’ Day in Haga Park. They watched the Scouts participate in things like knots, nature, fire-making and memory games. King Carl Gustaf presented the prizes to the competitors at the end of the day.
For the first time, several Scouting troops camped in Haga Park ahead of Scouts’ Day and its activities.

The Grand Duke was also present at the Scout gala dinner in the evening that honoured the King of Sweden, and it was during the dinner that His Royal Highness was sworn in as the new Honorary Chair.
Grand Duke Guillaume took over the role from King Carl Gustaf, who had held the role since 1977.
The Grand Duke has been involved in the Scout movement for many years and previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

During the event, King Carl XVI Gustaf, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, was honoured at a gala dinner at City Hall. The King received the Golden Wolf (the Scouts’ highest honour that was only previously ever awarded to the monarch’s grandfather, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn and Queen Elizabeth II).
He was given the honour to celebrate his longtime commitment to the Scout movement.
