King Charles has stripped a famous chocolate brand’s Royal Warrant.

The King has revoked the Royal Warrant for British chocolate maker Cadbury – 170 years after it was first granted.

The company confirmed that the Royal Warrant was not going to be renewed. Cadbury is not the only company to lose the honour this year. Reportedly around 100 did not have their warrants renewed, some, of course, due to the company closer or choosing not to reapply.

Other chocolate manufacturers were granted the honour: Nestlé, Bendicks, and Prestat.

Cadbury was a favourite of the King’s late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. His Majesty has retained 386 of the warrants granted by the late Queen.

Queen Victoria was the first to give Cadbury a Royal Warrant in 1854.
