King Abdullah reviews food security measures

King Abdullah II of Jordan has chaired a meeting during which the government’s plans to enhance energy and food security were reviewed.

The meeting was held in light of the regional and global developments. The meeting was also attended by Crown Prince Al Hussein.

It addressed the importance of the ongoing efforts to diversify energy sources to enhance Jordan’s self-sufficiency.

King Abdullah directed the government to prepare new plans to strengthen energy reserves and enhance the energy system’s readiness to ensure long-term sustainability and the ability to cope with global developments.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining strategic food reserves of grains and other essential commodities.

Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, chairman of the National Policies Council, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and several ministers and officials also attended the meeting.
