Today it was announced that the first Trooping the Color of King Charles III will be held on June 17, 2023.

The Trooping the Color celebrates the monarch’s official birthday, and the parade is presided over by Charles.

King Charles III is the Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiments of Household Division. Each separate department has its own Colonel, who is either a member of the royal family or a senior officer.

Charles has appointed Queen Camilla as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, the Prince of Wales as Colonel of the Welsh Guards and the Princess of Wales as Colonel of the Irish Guards.

The Princess Royal remains Colonel of the Blue and Royals, the Duke of Kent of the Scots Guards, Lieutenant General Sir Ed Smyth-Osbourne of the Life Guards and Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall of the Coldstream Guards.
