The members of the International Olympic Committee are representatives of the IOC in their respective countries. According to the Olympic Charter, they “represent and promote the interests of the IOC and of the Olympic Movement in their countries and in the organisations of the Olympic Movement in which they serve.” Find out who the royal members of the International Olympic Committee are below.
In order of seniority of their election:
- Princess Nora of Liechtenstein (elected in 1984)
- Albert II, Prince of Monaco (elected in 1985)
- The Princess Royal (elected in 1988)
- Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg (elected in 1998)
- The Emir of Qatar (elected in 2o02)
- Prince Faisal bin Hussein (elected in 2010)
- Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck (elected in 2018)
- Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud (elected in 2020)
King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands (elected in 1998), Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (elected in 2002), Prince Tunku Imran (elected in 2006), and King Frederik X of Denmark (elected in 2009) are honorary members of the committee. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah was elected in 1992 but he was suspended following a fraud conviction.
