Sweden’s Royal Court has provided an update on the health of Queen Silvia.
Queen Silvia, who had to pull out of the State Visit to Singapore this week with King Carl Gustaf, is recovering from her severe respiratory infection.
Margareta Thorgen, Information Manager at the Royal Court, told Svenksdam, “The Queen is feeling better and the planning for her next week is fixed.”
Queen Silvia is expected to be well enough to travel home to Germany on 27 November to open Childhood House Saarland in Homburg.
It was announced on Monday that the Queen would not travel to Singapore with her husband. At the time, they said, “The Queen was looking forward to visiting Singapore and regrets that she is unable to accompany The King on the trip. However, out of consideration for the Singaporean hosts and the rest of the State Visit delegation, The Queen chooses to remain in Sweden to not risk exposing others to infection.”
The State Secretary and First Lady of the Court undertook Queen Silvia’s individual engagements. King Carl Gustaf concluded his visit on 21 November.
Queen Silvia will turn 81 on 23 December.
