Queen Silvia of Sweden will not be accompanying her husband, King Carl XVI Gustaf, to Singapore tomorrow.

According to the Swedish royal court, Queen Silvia has a severe respiratory infection. The state visit will take place from 19 to 21 November.

According to the statement, “The Queen was looking forward to visiting Singapore and regrets that she is unable to accompany The King on the trip. However, out of consideration for the Singaporean hosts and the rest of the State Visit delegation, The Queen chooses to remain in Sweden, to not risk exposing others to infection.”

Queen Silvia’s individual engagement will be carried out by the state secretary and the First Lady of the Court.
