Queen Silvia of Sweden spoke at a conference on human trafficking.

The conference was arranged by the Scandinavian XPO in Arlandastad on the occasion of Sweden’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. It was hosted by Prime Minister Gunnar Strömmer and had several international guests.

In her speech, the Queen said, among other things, “The aim of this conference is to discuss different means to target the demand that fosters trafficking for sexual purposes. I welcome this focus which is key to ensure a zero-vision for trafficking in human beings. As long as people are willing to pay for sexual services, the trafficking will continue.”
