Crown Princess Victoria visits Georgia

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visited Georgia on the occasion of the Swedish presidency of the Council of the European Union. She made a visit to the EU’s civilian crisis management effort EUMM Georgia.

Crisis management is involved in strengthening the conditions of people in conflict and post-conflict countries.

Crown Princess Victoria went on a city walk in the capital city of Tbilisi, and afterwards, she attended a lunch hosted by Ulrik Tideström, Sweden’s ambassador to Georgia.

In the afternoon, she visited the EUMM’s headquarters, where she learned about the EU’s common security and defence policy. She also met with employees of the Swedish Embassy. In the evening, the Crown Princess attended a dinner hosted by Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili at the Orbeliani Palace.

The following day, Crown Princess Victoria visited EUMM’s field office in Gori, where she learned about the office’s duties. She then visited a school in the village of Khurvaleti and met with staff and students.

During lunch, she met with Swedes who serve at the EUMM. Afterwards, she met with female entrepreneurs in the Tserovani IDP settlement. The settlement is meant for internally displaced persons.

At the end of the day, Crown Princess Victoria visited the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta and received a guided tour.
