The Belgian Royal Family has celebrated Belgium’s National Day in Brussels.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were joined by all four of their children, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore. The King’s siblings, Princess Astrid, Prince Laurent and Princess Delphine also participated.

The day began with a Te Deum at the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula with the King, Queen and their children. Princess Astrid and her husband Prince Lorenz attended the Te Deum in Bruges, while Prince Laurent participated in the service in Namur.

Later in the day, the Royal Family united for the military parade with both Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel in their military uniforms this year. The King was seen saluting the troops alongside Elisabeth and Emmanuel, who have both trained at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels.

In the evening, the King, Queen and their children attended a party in Warande Park with Belgian music and a drone show.

Belgium’s National Day is celebrated annually on 21 July.

It is also the day Philippe became King of the Belgians, upon his father, King Albert’s abdication in 2013.
