Queen Máxima of the Netherlands teared up at the Anne Frank Exhibit in New York City.
The Queen visited the Center for Jewish History’s Anne Frank The Exhibition on 25 February and received a tour alongside New York State Governor Kathy Hochul.
During the tour, the Queen was seen tearing up as she viewed the exhibits that highlight Anne Frank’s life and the persecution of the Jews during World War II.
A full-scale replica of the annexe where Anne, her parents and sister spent two years hiding alongside four other Jews in Amsterdam is on display.

Ronald Leopold, the Executive Director of the Anne Frank House in the Netherlands, led the tour that shows Anne Frank’s life in chronological order from her childhood and deportation to Auschwitz to the publication of her diary years after she died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
Her Majesty later attended a student seminar with students from Great Neck North High School in New York who were visiting the museum as part of their studies.
Anne Frank The Exhibition opened on 27 January 2025 for International Holocaust Remembrance Day and to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The exhibit is open until 31 October 2025.
