Queen Sonja of Norway has visited sick children at the National Hospital in Oslo.

The Queen met children during a meeting that will be broadcast on 20 October as part of a national TV campaign for the Children’s Cancer Association.

Queen Sonja met with 15-year-old Anjelica and nine-year-old Thor Kristian as part of the campaign.

Her Majesty said about the meeting and television campaign: “As a patron of the TV campaign several times, I have seen how much we can accomplish together. This year, the TV campaign goes to the Children’s Cancer Association, a cause that touches me deeply.”

She also praised the children’s courage: “When we now stand together for children with serious illness and their families, we show what real care means. Their strength and courage are an inspiration to us all, and through our support, we can give hope in a difficult time.”

NRK will air the footage on Sunday, which will include visits to children’s homes that are near the hospital.

The NRK television campaign turns 50 this year, and Queen Sonja stepped up as patron for this year’s event. She has been involved in the charity since 1974.
