Queen Silvia of Sweden’s birthday fundraiser has raised half a million for Ukrainian children.

Queen Silvia met with Kristina Henschen, the general secretary of Radiohjälpen, who oversaw the raising of the funds. She was presented with the results of the fundraiser that was begun for her 80th birthday for the children of Ukraine.

The fundraiser came to over SEK 5.3 million, around 506,000 US dollars. The money will be given to children’s projects in Ukraine.

Queen Silvia said, “For me, it feels good to be able to help Ukrainian children who live in such difficult circumstances. I want to thank Radiohjälpen, World Children and everyone who contributed to this gift for the benefit of children with mental illness in Ukraine. Thank you for this lovely birthday gift that warms my heart.”
