The Duchess of Edinburgh has visited the Katherine Low Settlement in Battersea.

Katherine Low Settlement (KLS) is a charity with 100 years of experience in reducing poverty and isolation. It supports over 500 local people every week. The Duchess of Edinburgh visited as KLS began its 100th anniversary celebrations.

The Duchess learned more about the work of KLS and thanked the staff and the volunteers. She visited an Elders’ chair dance class and took up sewing in a sewing group for newly arrived women in the United Kingdom.

The Katherine Low Settlement was opened in 1924 by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother when she was the Duchess of York.
