Princess Ines, the three-month-old daughter of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden, has made her first public appearance during the celebrations for the birthday of her grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf.
Well-wishers had gathered in the outer courtyard of the Royal Palace to help the King celebrate his 79th birthday. The day began with the Life Guards’ Dragoon Music Corps performing a musical program for the audience.

The King came into the courtyard to receive a salute from the Jämtland Field Marshal Corps alongside his son, Prince Carl Philip, and daughter, Crown Princess Victoria. The Navy Band also provided musical entertainment. The rest of the family watched from the balcony, and little Ines was being held by her mother.
The King received flowers from children, including one who seemed rather reluctant to hand them over.
A birthday reception was hosted by Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström.
At noon, the King received a 21-gun salute from Skeppsholmen.
