Princess Charlotte turns 10

Princess Charlotte celebrates her 10th birthday today.

The Princess was born as Charlotte Elizabeth Diana to the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on 2 May 2015 in London’s St Mary’s Hospital. She was fourth in line to the throne at the time of her birth. However, upon the death of her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2022, and her grandfather, King Charles’s accession, she is now third.

She first attended Willcocks Nursery School before joining her older brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s School. After her family relocated to Windsor, she, George and their younger brother, Prince Louis, transferred to Lambrook.

Princess Charlotte attends the occasional royal engagement with her parents, including the annual Trooping the Colour in June.

Charlotte made history as the first female in the line of succession to not be overtaken by the birth of a younger brother. The British laws of succession changed with the Perth Agreement, which changed the laws from male-preference primogeniture to absolute primogeniture.

The Prince and Princess of Wales regularly release new images of their children on their birthdays. It is expected that a new image of the Princess will be released on social media to mark the royal’s birthday today.
