At the end of the visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Princess of Orange has spoken about her security issues.
Princess Amalia has been subjected to severe threats and has been under increased security because of this. As a result, she is not able to live in her student accommodation in Amsterdam.
She said, “I went into being a student with the thought that I would be able to do whatever a student does, but the reality has, unfortunately, been anything but that. I’m going to be honest and say that I have and still am having a very difficult time with that, but that I hope that things will change soon.”
When asked what she specifically missed, she said, “The normal life of a student. Going out and going to the shops.” She added, “I was very frightened, and I am still having a difficult time. I do want to say how grateful I am to my friends and family and also to every part of the Kingdom, including the Caribbean parts, for all their support.”
When asked if she enjoyed the trip, she said, “I can assure you that I have very much enjoyed the trip, and I am very grateful.”
