King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima release statement following train crash

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands have released a short statement following a train crash that took place earlier this morning.

The statement reads, “Our thoughts are with the victims of the train accident at Voorschoten and their families. Many are now in fear and uncertainty. We deeply sympathize with all of them.”

The crash took place around 3.30 a.m. with a passenger train carrying around 50 people. It is said that the train struck a crane that had been left on the tracks. About 19 people were seriously injured and taken to hospital. There is at least one fatality. A further 20 people received minor injuries.
