Queen Rania of Jordan has said that she is “most thankful” for the birth of her granddaughter, Princess Iman, this year.
The Queen made the comments as she visited Sahab yesterday, where she hosted a luncheon for women active in the fields of education, culture, media and civil society. She was welcomed to the area by Sahab Governor Ali Mawas and Mayor Abbas Maharma.
She reflected on the past year, noting that it had been a difficult year for the region, marked by suffering in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and elsewhere.
“We used to believe that all people in this world had an equal claim to humanity and human rights; but sadly, we are seeing otherwise. We in Jordan will stay true to the core values with which we were raised: kindness, generosity, compassion, care, and community. These are the values I never fail to see in the Jordanian people,” she said.
Adding that she was most thankful for the birth of her first granddaughter, she said, “Time flies when I’m with her.”
