King Felipe of Spain visited troops in Romania and Slovakia from 10 to 11 June to meet Spanish troops deployed on NATO missions.
He first landed in Romania with the Chief of the Defence Staff, Teodoro López Calderón. The King was in Cincu to meet with soldiers and hear from the Battalion Commander on the soldiers’ activities in the country.
His Majesty also held a meeting with the President of Romania, Nicuşor Dan. After reviewing the troops, the King travelled to the “North Cross” firing range to meet the soldiers and learn about the different vehicles and systems. Later, he met with the Spanish troops in Romania.
In the afternoon, King Felipe arrived in Slovakia for a similar itinerary. He met dignitaries at the airport before meeting the President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, at the Grassalkovich Palace. There, he was offered bread and salt before the playing of the national anthems and reviewing the troops.
