The King and Queen of Sweden have hosted the Nobel laureates at the Royal Palace to honour them for receiving the Nobel Prizes.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia welcomed the Nobel laureates to Stockholm for a gala dinner. Their Majesties’ children and in-laws also attended.
Crown Princess Victoria and her husband, Prince Daniel; Prince Carl Philip and his wife, Princess Sofia; and Princess Madeleine and her husband, Chris O’Neill, participated in the dinner. It was the first appearance for Madeleine and Chris in several years; they recently returned to live in Sweden after spending many years in Florida.

The Royal Family first gave a small reception on Prince Bertil’s Floor in the Royal Palace before moving to the White Sea Palace Banquet Hall where they were joined by members of the government, diplomatic corps, academies, research and science, the Nobel Foundation and others.
The royals then escorted the Nobel laureates into the next room for dinner.

Everyone then dined on mountain trout, beetroot, deer, winter cabbage, cream cheese sorbet, and berries, among other dishes, in Karl XI’s Gallery.
As with the Nobel Prize Ceremony and Nobel Banquet the previous day, the dinner at the Royal Palace was a formal affair with the royal ladies in tiaras and gowns.
