King Carl Gustaf of Sweden joined the Norwegian royals for some of the World Ski Championships in Norway.

The Swedish monarch was in Trondheim to cheer on Swedish athletes in cross-country skiing.

He joined Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway in the Royal Box. King Harald of Norway has a cold and had to postpone his attendance at the competitions.

King Carl Gustaf was on hand to watch Jonna Sundling win the women’s sprint and later congratulated her in the Royal Box.

The World Ski Championships will be held in Norway from 26 February to 9 March. This is Trondheim’s second time hosting the event. They first served as hosts in 1997.
