Sophie, Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein, has opened the Climate Action in Fragile Contexts event, together with Government Councilor Dominique Hasler and Robert Mardini, Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Princess Sophie is the President of the Liechtenstein Red Cross. Liechtenstein has been a supporter of the International Committee of the Red Cross’s Transition Fund for Climate and Environment since it was launched in January 2022. The first progress report of the fund was discussed during this event.

The number of people dependent on humanitarian aid continued to rise during 2023. “The situation is often even worse in conflict areas, as climate change further exacerbates the already precarious situation of the people,” said Dominique Hasler.

Liechtenstein is supporting the fund with a total of 600,000 francs for the years 2022-2024.
