King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni (72) has announced that he has been diagnosed with a form of prostate cancer following an examination by specialists in China. As a result, the King will be unable to return to Cambodia for the time being. The King and the Queen Mother regularly visit China for health checkups, and the cancer was discovered during this visit.

In a message to the Kingdom of Cambodia, the King states that doctors have advised continuous treatment and recommended that His Majesty remain under medical care in Beijing for around “one to two months.” The King also extended well-wishes ahead of the upcoming New Year celebrations.

The King was recently ill in February 2026, with the Palace saying His Majesty was “unwell and unable to carry out duties.”

King Norodom Sihamoni was born in 1953 and ascended to the throne in 2004 following the abdication of his father, King Norodom Sihanouk.
