Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway is on sick leave for a week.

The Crown Princess has been forced to step back from her royal engagements within the next week.

Her Royal Highness is suffering from side effects of the medicine she has been taking to treat her chronic pulmonary fibrosis.

The Royal Court added that the sick leave is only initially for a week but did not rule out an extension if needed.

It was only a little over a week ago that the Royal Court announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit had restarted her treatment for chronic pulmonary fibrosis.

They informed the public that the medicine could cause side effects that would postpone some engagements.

Previous experience has shown that the medicines can lead to side effects that can have consequences for the Crown Princess’s official programme. Therefore, we find it natural to share this information this time. We will inform you about changes to the official program if necessary,” they stated.

The Crown Princess was diagnosed with the chronic disease in October 2018.
