The Nelson Mandela Foundation teamed up with the Fondation Princesse Charlène to mark the 105th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth.

Mandela Day pays tribute to the work of Nelson Mandela, who died in 2013. It takes place every year on 18 July. This year, the Nelson Mandela Foundation organised a gala evening in his honour in the Principality of Monaco.

For the occasion, the film “Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom” was shown at the Théâtre Princess Grace. This was supported by the Prince Albert II Foundation and was attended by the producer Anant Singh, who was a friend of Nelson Mandela.

Princess Zenani Mandela-Dlamani, Nelson Mandela’s eldest daughter, was welcome to Monaco by Prince Albert and South Africa’s ambassador to South Korea. She delivered a speech on her father’s “commitment to equality and peace and the need to continue to draw inspiration from this strength of spirit to resist oppression, to assert justice over inequality, dignity over humiliation, forgiveness over hatred.”
