While they could not host their traditional Christmas concert, the Belgian Royal Family stayed in the festive spirit with a year-end reception in Brussels.

King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, the Duchess of Brabant, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore received close to a hundred Belgians at the Royal Palace from social organisations the King and Queen have been in contact with over the past several years. Volunteers, employees and people supported by these organisations made up the guest list.

The Royal Palace shared several images on social media of the Royal Family mingling with guests and an official photo taken at the event.

The purpose of the reception was for the King and Queen to “thank some social organisations with which they have been in contact in recent years.”

The traditional Christmas concert was not held this year at the Royal Palace due to renovation work on the facade.
