Queen Margrethe of Denmark’s new peacock curtain has been revealed in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.

Queen Margrethe designed the new curtain for the Pantomime Theatre’s 150th anniversary celebrations. The train of the peacock is crafted from a highly durable canvas and hand-painted according to Queen Margrethe’s instructions.

Queen Margrethe attended the unveiling. Beforehand, she said, “Ever since my childhood visit to Tivoli Gardens, I’ve been captivated by the magic of the Peacock Curtain. The concept itself is both wondrous and enchanting. It has been an exciting challenge to create an updated version now that the old one was no longer viable. I approached the task with great respect for the original concept, and it’s for others to judge my success. It has certainly been an inspiring and enjoyable project.”
