Crown Prince Christian welcomed his family to his barracks over the weekend.

The recruits’ families were invited to the Guard Hussar Regiment on Saturday, 8 March, to see their loved ones, the training grounds, and the other soldiers.

The Crown Prince gave his family a tour of his dorm and even let his younger sister, Princess Isabella, try on his backpack and camouflaged helmet.

Christian has been training at the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse since February. He follows a long Danish tradition of having members of the Royal Family undergo military training.

His grandmother, Queen Margrethe, and father, King Frederik, also served in the military. King Frederik, in particular, underwent training with Denmark’s elite special naval forces, the Frømandskorpset.

The King also served as a platoon commander in the Guard Hussar Regiment in 1988.

Christian, 19, will receive basic training with the Guard Hussar Regiment for four months.
