Queen Margrethe sends condolences to Pope Benedict

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has sent her condolences for Pope Benedict XVI to the Vatican.

The abdicated pope died on 31 December 2022 at the age of 95. She writes that she will remember him as “a renowned theologian and his lifelong dedication to the Roman Catholic Church.”

King Charles III, King Philippe and King Felipe VI also sent condolences. Several royals are expected to attend the funeral on January 5. For now, only King Philippe has confirmed that he will be there.
