St Edward’s Crown has been removed from the Tower of London.

The crown is used for the coronation of the new King Charles III and has been removed so that it can be adjusted. King Charles will be crowned on May 6, 2023.

The crown was made for King Charles II in 1661 to replace a previously used melted-down crown. It is an exact replica of the medieval design and was worn by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
