The King of Eswatini’s sister, Princess Lindiwe, has died after a short illness.
The Princess has served as Eswatini’s Minister of Home Affairs since 2018.
Prime Minister Russell Dlamini announced her death and conveyed his condolences to the royal family on behalf of the government.
The statement reads:
It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that I announce the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe, Minister of Home Affairs, following a short illness while receiving medical care in the Kingdom.
On behalf of His Majesty’s Government, we extend our deepest condolences to His Majesty the King; Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Royal Family, her family and relatives, her colleagues, and all who knew, loved and served alongside Her Royal Highness. We share in their grief and pray that they may be granted strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Her Royal Highness served the Crown and the Kingdom with dignity, devotion and a strong sense of duty. Since her appointment as Minister of Home Affairs in 2018, she discharged the responsibilities of her high office with distinction, integrity and compassion. She remained steadfast in her service to the Nation and carried out her duties with commitment to the welfare of the people of Eswatini.
In addition to her public service, Her Royal Highness was a woman of deep Christian faith and spiritual conviction. Affectionately known as Umkhokheli, she provided spiritual leadership, guidance and encouragement to many, bearing witness to her faith through both word and service. Her kindness, humility and strength of character touched the lives of those around her, and her example will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who mourn her passing.
The Kingdom has lost a person of humility and dignity, the Cabinet a valued and respected colleague, the Church a spiritual leader, and the Nation a devoted and faithful servant. Her contribution to the life of the Kingdom will be remembered with gratitude, and her memory will remain cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Further information concerning the funeral and related arrangements will be communicated in due course.
May the soul of Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe rest in eternal peace.
The Princess was married to Robert Kasaro, with whom she ran the Jesus Calls Worship Centre (JCWC).
