King Felipe of Spain attended the commemorative events for the historic flight of the seaplane “Plus Ultra.”
The Plus Ultra undertook the first transoceanic flight between Europe and South America through a Latin country, which departed on January 22, 1926, from Palos de la Frontera (Huelva), arriving on February 10, 1926, in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The King was accompanied by the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla; the Mayor-President of Palos de la Frontera, Milagros del Rocío Romero Artero; and the Air Force Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Space, Francisco Braco Carbó, among others. At the Mirador de la Calzadilla viewpoint, the King unveiled a commemorative plaque at the Plus Ultra monument.
King Felipe then visited the Palos de la Frontera Town Hall, where he was greeted by the municipal council and where he toured an exhibition on the great flights of Spanish aviation. He also met with the mayor of the Argentinian city of Luján, Leonardo Boto, home of the historic seaplane. The mayors of the two cities signed a twinning agreement.
