The Prince of Wales has undertaken his first official engagement since his wife, Catherine, announced her cancer diagnosis.
Prince William visited Surplus to Supper in Surrey on 18 April. Surplus to Supper is a food redistribution organisation that distributes food that would have otherwise gone to waste to those in need.
While at the organisation, he spoke to chefs about how they are helping to battle food poverty and bridging the gap between food waste and food poverty.
The heir to the British throne also donned an apron and helped prepare meals. He was also given get-well cards for the Princess of Wales and King Charles, the latter who revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
William also gave an update on Catherine promising to take care of her as she continues to battle her unspecified cancer.
He later visited a youth centre, Hanworth Centre Hub, in London, which benefits from the work of Surplus to Supper. The Prince travelled to the centre with other volunteers from Surplus to Supper to distribute the food to those in need.
Kensington Palace revealed the purpose of the visit was aimed at spotlighting “the community and environmental impact organisations in the area are having through their work.”
They added: “Reducing food waste has a considerable number of environmental benefits, including reducing emissions from landfill that contribute to climate change.”
The Princess of Wales revealed in a video message in March 2024 that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy after cancer had been found following her abdominal surgery.
