The Prince and Princess of Wales are “enormously touched by the kind messages” after Catherine’s cancer diagnosis was made public.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson has said: “The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message.

“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”

The Princess of Wales announced she had been diagnosed with cancer on 22 March after undergoing major abdominal surgery in January. After taking time to recover from her operation, she is now undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

Catherine has not revealed what type of cancer she has or what stage it is. However, she did assure the public that she was doing well and “getting stronger every day.”
