King Charles has released a video tribute to his beloved mum, Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have been her 100th birthday.

The King recorded a personal message in the Library of Balmoral Castle in early April 2026, and it was released at midnight on the Royal Family’s social media channels and YouTube.

Several photos of Her Late Majesty can be seen in the background while the King paid tribute to his “beloved mother.”

The King said he paused “to reflect on the life and loss of a Sovereign who meant so much to us all and to celebrate
anew the many blessings of her memory.”

He asked people to take inspiration from her goodness and to follow her example “as we make today not the marking of a milestone felt by absence but the celebration of a life well-lived, and a legacy of hope, as we strive together towards a ‘better, happier tomorrow’ – one rooted in peace, justice, prosperity and security.”

Touchingly, he ended his remarks telling his mother, “God bless you, darling Mama; you remain forever in our hearts and prayers.”

The video has been released ahead of a day of engagements for the Royal Family, marking what would have been the late monarch’s 100th birthday.

King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family will view recommended designs for the Queen Elizabeth Memorial at the British Museum ahead of a reception at Buckingham Palace. In addition, the Princess Royal will open The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in London’s Regent’s Park.
