Crown Prince Frederik continues to be criticised at home in Denmark.
The Crown Prince’s flight to a climate conference and rumours of an affair continue to plague the heir to the throne.
Thousands of Danes were questioned for a YouGov poll for the newspaper BT. Two-thirds of people thought his flight from Copenhagen to Aalborg (which is a little over a four-hour drive) sent a “bad signal” as he was attending a climate change conference.
Regarding the rumoured affair in Spain, people think the photo of Frederik lighting the Second Advent candle alone wasn’t good optics. One person, Anna Thygesen, said: “Why do they let him do that alone?”
She added that some of his children should have joined him for the moment.
Others agreed, saying the photo spoke loud and clear, with one calling it “sad.”
The Royal Danish House has not commented on the YouGov poll.
Currently, Crown Princess Mary is in her home country with the couple’s twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, on a long-planned trip. Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Isabella are due to join them soon once their schedules and schooling allow. Prince Christian is unable to visit his mother’s homeland due to his studies.
