Princess Madeleine of Sweden has been busy attending events for the World Childhood Foundation.
On 11 October, she attended the anniversary conference of the Erica Foundation. The Princess, who recently returned to live in Sweden after years in America, attended the mental health charity’s 90th anniversary alongside the World Childhood Foundation, of which she is Deputy Honorary Chair.
The 90th anniversary was celebrated with a training day focused on supporting and treating children and families in vulnerable situations.
The Royal Court said the Erica Foundation “is one of three institutions of higher learning commissioned by the Ministry of Education to organize the psychotherapist program with a focus on children and young people.”
Madeleine’s visit to the Erica Foundation was just one of several childhood events she attended in October.
Earlier in the month, the Princess met an Interpol DevOps team at the Swedish Police Authority to witness how technology and AI shape police work. The World Childhood Foundation has made this initiative possible so that police can investigate child sexual abuse quickly and with less strain on the police force.
Princess Madeleine also visited Bukowskis for a preview of the art that will be auctioned to benefit Childhood. To celebrate Childhood’s 25th anniversary, 25 artworks are being auctioned with all proceeds going to the foundation.
After her visit, Princess Madeleine shared: “In order to support the organisations and firefighters who work daily to protect children from sexual abuse, we need to gather force. All efforts are welcome and necessary to achieve our vision of a world where no child is subjected to sexual abuse. I hope and believe that this initiative and the colourful artwork can inspire more people to contribute to keep children safe.”
The auction takes place from 9 to 20 October at bukowskis.com.
The World Childhood Foundation was founded in 1999 by Queen Silvia of Sweden and works to abuse and exploitation of children.
