King Charles and Queen Camilla have led the VE-Day celebrations in London.
The military procession began at noon and made its way to Buckingham Palace. It was kicked off with a reading from the May 8 entry of Winston Churchill’s diary, which read, “My dear friends, this is your hour. This is not victory of a party or of any class. It’s a victory of the great British nation as a whole. We were the first, in this ancient island, to draw the sword against tyranny. After a while we were left all alone against the most tremendous military power that has been seen. We were all alone for a whole year.”

Over 1,300 military personnel joined in the procession. As the procession set off, King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, the Princess Royal, the Duke of Kent, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, entered the stand in front of Buckingham Palace. They joined in conversation with the veterans who sat there.
