Crown Princess Kiko of Japan had a busy day in Kumamoto Prefecture.

In the morning, she attended a ceremony of the Tuberculosis Prevention Association, of which she is also the President. In the afternoon, she visited Kumamoto Castle, which is currently undergoing restoration work after it was damaged in the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. Afterwards, she visited the Kikuchi Keifuen, a national sanatorium for Hansen’s disease (also known as leprosy).

At the Tuberculosis Prevention Association ceremony, she said, “I would like to express my deepest respect to those who have contributed to tuberculosis control.”
