The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age during World Mental Health Day.
The couple spoke during a panel discussion and called for social media platforms to take a look at their content moderation. They believe modifications need to made to apps that can be become addictive and thus harm young people’s mental health.
At the panel were several parents who had lost children with mental health challenges that could be tied to social media use. They spoke about their loss and how Project Healthy Minds helped them to find support.
“For us, the priority here is to turn pain into purpose,” Prince Harry said. He added that he and Meghan want to “provide as much support, spotlight and platform for these parents to come together, to heal together, to grieve together and collectively focus on solutions so that no other family anywhere has to go through what they’ve been through.”
