Queen Mary has provided an update on her mother-in-law, Queen Margrethe’s health.

The Queen was in Copenhagen for engagements when she was asked about Queen Margrethe’s health.

Queen Mary said: “She is doing very well. I have had the opportunity to visit her several times since she came home. She is very friendly and keeps her spirits high. Thank you for the question.”

Queen Margrethe was hospitalised on Wednesday, 18 September following a fall at Fredensborg Palace.

She was discharged on 20 September and will be on sick leave for a period of time. Her Majesty suffered an injury to the vertebrae of the neck and a fracture to the left hand.

Several of Queen Margrethe’s upcoming events have been cancelled due to her health.
