Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti of Thailand was born on 29 April 2005 as the fifth but only recognised son of the future King Vajiralongkorn and his third wife, Srirasmi Suwadee. Today, he celebrates his 20th birthday – the age of majority in Thailand.
He was born via cesarean section at the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok, and his name was announced by his grandfather, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, on 15 June 2005. He began his education at Chitralada School in Dusit Palace before going to the Bavarian International School in Germany. His father also spent a lot of time in Germany.
His parents were divorced in 2014, and his father remarried shortly before his coronation to Suthida Tidjai, now Queen Suthida.
It is not yet set in stone that the Prince will succeed his father. It is likely that, like his father before him, he will be confirmed as Crown Prince soon as he is now 20 years old.
