The Royal Palace has commented on the health of Princess Astrid, who is hospitalised in Oslo.

The Head of Communications at the Norwegian Royal Court has confirmed to public broadcaster NRK that Princess Astrid, 94, is suffering from a case of pneumonia. While any such case is a serious matter for an older person, NRK notes that Astrid is “on the road to recovery.”

Earlier this month, the Palace announced that the elder sister of King Harald would not be participating in the upcoming Belgian state visit, stating that the Princess needed “rest and recovery” after a “short period of illness.”

Yesterday, Norwegian magazine Se og Hør reported that Princess Astrid was admitted to the National Hospital (Rikshospitalet) in Oslo, where King Harald and Queen Sonja had visited. The Palace did not issue a comment yesterday, but spoke to NRK today.
