The King and Queen of Bhutan have made a state visit to Bangladesh and took their three children with them.

The King, the Queen, eight-year-old Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, four-year-old Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, and six-month-old Gyalsem Sonam Yangden Wangchuck, travelled to Bangladesh upon the invitation of President of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mohammed Shahabuddin.

The visit occurred during the Bangladesh Independence and National Day celebrations.

The first stop during the visit was the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, where tribute was paid to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is regarded as the Father of the Nation. The King and Queen also met with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and several trade agreements were signed.

The King and Queen met with Bhutanese students studying in Bangladesh while their own children had fun at the Jamuna State Guest House.
