Morocco’s princesses hosted French First Lady Brigitte Macron for the opening performance of the Royal Theatre of Rabat.

Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem and Lalla Hasnaa welcomed the French First Lady to Rabat to watch the opening performance from the Royal Box.

The group watched a film about the Royal Theatre and how it continues to promote Moroccan art in modern times. Morocco hopes that the theatre will help Rabat become a major international cultural destination.

The evening saw several Moroccans take to the stage. Soloist Marouan Benabdallah performed a classical tune, while mezzo-soprano Ahlima Mhamd performed opera. Samira Kadiri also performed an interpretation of the Arab-Andalusian heritage. Traditional Moroccan sounds inspired Driss El Maloumi’s oud performance for the royals and First Lady.

In a first, the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Symphony Orchestra united on stage for the show.

Princess Lalla Khadija (King Mohammed’s daughter), Princess Lalla Meryem and Princess Lalla Hasnaa (both sisters of the King) met the performers after the event’s conclusion, which allowed the royal ladies and the French First Lady to hear more about their preparation and skills.
