Crown Princess Mary is in her home country with the couple’s twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, on a long-planned trip.
The Crown Princess and her children are visiting friends and family in Tasmania, Australia, ahead of Christmas. Mary is from Hobart, Tasmania, where most of her family still resides.
The Royal Danish House’s press officer, Lene Balleby, confirmed the trip to Billed Bladet.
Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Isabella are due to join them soon once their schedules and schooling allow. Prince Christian – who just turned 18 in October – is unable to visit his mother’s homeland due to his studies.
Crown Prince Frederik had a few engagements to complete before he could travel Down Under; this included acting as regent while Queen Margrethe was in London and attending a Council of State meeting.
It’s thought the Crown Prince and Isabella will be in Australia in the next few days.
It’s unknown if Frederik will visit his nephew, Count Nikolai, while in Australia. The son of Frederik’s brother, Prince Joachim, moved to the country earlier this year as an exchange student at Sydney’s University of Technology.
The Crown Prince Family will be back in Denmark ahead of Christmas as they are due to celebrate Christmas Eve with Queen Margrethe at Marselisborg Palace.
