The Swedish Royal Family has attended the opening of the Swedish parliament in Stockholm.
The King officially opened the Riksdag on 10 September in a traditional ceremony for the 2024-2025 legislative year.
King Carl Gustaf was joined by Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill.
The King, Queen and Crown Princess Couple travelled to the Riksdag House in a horse-drawn carriage before the King officially opened the National Assembly.
“What you decide in this chamber will affect the Swedish people for many years to come. My hope and conviction is that you have respectful debates, that you listen to each other, and that you make the best decisions for Sweden,” His Majesty said.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson then read his government statement.
Later in the evening, the family, with the exception of Queen Silvia, attended a performance at the Royal Opera.
Prior to the official opening, the Swedish Royal Family attended a church ceremony at Stockholm Cathedral alongside government officials.
Dean Jonas Eek led the service while Mikael Kurkiala gave remarks.
These were the first events with the Royal Family for Princess Sofia after the announcement of her fourth pregnancy.
