King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by their daughters, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía, visited the parishes of Arroes, Pion and Candanal to hand out the Exemplary Town of Asturias Award.
The parishes received the award for their preservation of a diversified economy based on local resources.

The Princess of Asturias addressed the residents of Arroes. She said, “In the three parishes, you have known how to share values, concerns and cultural and family ties to continue building a more favourable environment and a better future. Thank you for your effort! And congratulations on this award .”
The King added, “I would like this magnificent word, hope, to always accompany you. May you continue with it, building day by day a dignified life, of progress and vitality, of solidarity and respect. A life that will make you continue to be, more and more and with more reason, exemplary. We thank you again. For your affection, for your example, for your contagious joy, and for your generosity, which we will never forget. Congratulations, everyone.”
