The Spanish Royal Family celebrated Spain’s National Day on 12 October in Madrid.
King Felipe, Queen Letizia and the Princess of Asturias presided over the solemn homage to the military and the Spanish flag.
The Royal Family met President Pedro Sánchez and other members of the Spanish government for the holiday before they received the honours of a battalion of the Royal Guard. The King then reviewed the troops.
Each military branch was represented as the flag was marched to the location where it was raised as the national anthem played.
A tribute to those who lost their lives for Spain took place afterwards with King Felipe and Princess Leonor laying a wreath in their memory.
After the military parade, Their Majesties and Her Royal Highness travelled to the Royal Palace of Madrid for the annual reception. The King, Queen and Princess welcomed their guests in the Throne Room before the reception began in the Gala Dining Room and the Gasparini and Carlos III Rooms.
Spain’s National Day occurs annually on 12 October.
